May 11, Rain and Shine

After a 4th place finish at Knoxville on Saturday, Bryan jumped back into his Indycar to capitalize on what he learned from last weekend.

The day started out with threatening skies. Anxiously, Bryan and crew were ready to progress until the rain started to hit. We were staged in the pits ready to go, only having to turn around to go back to the garage. At around 2 pm, the rain subsided and the track drying process began. At 3 pm all of the cars rushed back to the pits to get their ever so precious track time.

As Bryan went out for his first few laps, the team ran into some minor issues. Gearbox gremlins brought him back into the pits as the car was struggling to get into the high gears. The team worked swiftly to get Bryan back on track. Right away he blended back onto the track with a full field of cars. Everyone was working on their race setups as cars were running close and passing every lap. With only 3 good stints on track, Bryan and team were working on finding a comfort level to where he could run flat out around the track. Heavy winds certainly did not help. After going to the garage for adjustments, we had hoped to be back out by 6:30 pm. By the time the crew finished it was determined that it was too late to go back out.  Throughout his stints, Bryan was able to run in the high 218’s without a tow. He completed 31 laps with a best lap speed of 219.151 mph.

Overall, Bryan has been building his comfort level more and more throughout the day. After a long engineering meeting, it is certain that Bryan along with his KV and KVSH Racing teammates will be climbing the speed chart throughout the week. We haven’t even started trying to go fast yet! Bryan’s crew has been enthusiastic on working with him thus far and is very positive on his progression. Tomorrow looks like a great day in terms of weather and we are excited to get back on track!
